There is no separate car park for the cathedral treasures. When you visit, please use the free public parking spaces nearby, on the cathedral square, on Hoher Weg or in the car park serving the Rathauspassagen shopping centre. The free Düsterngraben car park is right by the cathedral.

 

 

Guides are currently not being offered for reasons of hygiene.

Audio guides for the cathedral and cathedral treasure are available in German and English for adults, and in German for children. The guided tour for children is particularly popular with visitors.

Guides cost 2 euros to hire

The cathedral is fully accessible via the new building for the cathedral treasures.

Currently, only parts of the exhibition on the cathedral treasures are fully accessible, along with the anteroom to the refectory and the chapter house. The rooms where the tapestries and robes are exhibited can be accessed via short flights of steps. The entry to the historical treasury is mediaeval and not fully accessible.

Photography – for private, non-commercial purposes only – is permitted in the permanent exhibition without a flash, tripod or selfie stick, as long as the artworks are kept safe and the photographer maintains a distance of least 50 cm and treats other visitors with consideration. No photographs may be taken in rooms and cabinets containing textiles, such as those where the tapestries and robes are exhibited.

This permission does not apply to third-party rights. Permission is required to photograph or share images of content protected by copyright or personal rights.

Individual works which may not be photographed or filmed on the instructions of the owner are labelled accordingly.

Photography and filming may be prohibited in special exhibitions. The assistants will be happy to inform you.

Halberstadt Cathedral treasures and some 120 other partners are signed up to this attractive all-inclusive tourism pass. Purchasing the card gives you free admission to all participating institutions within the defined validity period.

Lockers are available during opening hours in the new cathedral treasury to safely store your bags and rucksacks. They can be used free of charge. Bulky items of all kinds must be handed in, such as umbrellas, rucksacks and bags larger than DIN A4 (20 x 30 cm). No liability is assumed for the contents of the lockers.

Food and drinks may not be consumed in the exhibition rooms.

 

 

Dogs and other animals may not accompany visitors on the premises, with the exception of guide dogs for the blind and assistance dogs; these are also admitted to the Cathedral and Cathedral treasures as long as the rules are followed. Dogs must be kept under control in line with regulations and placed such that all entrances and exits can be used without hindrance.
